Hilltribe Blankets and Bags Catalogue

Thailand is famous for it's wonderful handwoven silk,
hemp and cotton fabric fashion accessories, clothing,
and home decor.
Some of the best examples are the cotton and hemp blankets
handcrafted by the very talented Hmong hill tribe people
of northern Thailand.
These blankets are actually made from recycled skirts, (see photo above)
which are made each year to be worn at the New Year Festival.
It is their custom that the skirts can only be worn once,
and the batik cotton and hemp fabric is reused to make
blankets, bags, clothing and cushion covers.
These beautiful and extremely usable products are a very
important source of income for the Hmong people.
Most blankets are made from long strips of cotton and
hemp fabric, which come from the skirts. These strips are
about 12" wide and can be up to 15' long, which explains
why the skirts are so heavy.
We can also supply patchwork style blankets, made in any
combination of fabrics and colors, and in any size.
The fabrics used are a mixture of hand stitched cotton,
batik cotton and hemp, and conventional floral cotton patches.
Our blankets usually come in two sizes, standard and jumbo.
A standard size blanket suits a queen size bed and measures
72" x 80", while a jumbo size blanket covers a king size
bed and measures 88" x 100".
These are approximate sizes for "off the shelf" blankets
but exact sizes can be made to order.
Our blankets not only look good when used as a bedspread, but will keep you warm on those cold winter nights, each one weighing between 1.5 and 2.5 kg.
They can also be used as a sofa cover or wall hanging,
and really know how to brighten up a room.

The Hmong hilltribe people of northern Thailand are famous for the beautiful cotton and hemp fabrics they produce, and the amazing bags made from these fabrics are equally famous.
The handbags, shoulder bags, totes and purses are not only aesthetically pleasing, but are very practical and usable, and very durable.
The shoulder bags were traditionally made to be used by farmers working in the fields, carrying food and tools etc. These days they are used for shopping, school, work, or a day at the beach.
They come in a wide range of colors and designs and are available in any number, depending on the buyer's needs. Wholesale prices are adjusted for large orders.

These beautiful fabrics are also used to make other products, like bags and purses :
